FIVE Cool And Cosy Cardigans To Elevate Your Work From Home Outfits This Autumn
STYLE & FASHION
Cardigans are perfect for this time of year, as they’re easy to just throw on and fling off as your body temperature dictates. They’re also great for layering, as well as adding bold and even subtle pops of colour to any autumnal outfit, which is more than likely going to be more muted and understated than some of your more vibrant summer pieces.
HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN THIS AUTUMN
If we were in the office, we would choose sharp blazers in interesting colours to add some variation to our standard grey and black suits, or even go as far as mixing it up with a different coloured blouse. Maybe even a smart blazer with a pattern if we were feeling fancy that day! But when we are working from home, we need a much more understated and comfortable wardrobe, and the humble cardigan ticks all of our sartorial boxes perfectly.
WHAT TO WEAR WITH A CARDIGAN
We often get asked how to make a cardigan look on-trend and current, and we usually say that fitted and cropped styles should be chosen to accommodate smarter ensembles, while looser and perhaps even longer styles are better suited to more casual outfits. Of course, there are always going to be exceptions to the rule; but you don’t have to worry about looking like you’ve raided your grandparents’ wardrobe, as cardigans have never been more fashion-forward.
Let’s take a look at some of our favourite cardigans that are available to shop right now, along with some tip top styling tips…
Moss Copenhagen Alpaca Cardigan
This soft and warm Moss Copenhagen Alpaca cardigan is the epitome of cosy autumnal fashion. It’s a buy now, love forever piece that will complement both smart and casual ensembles, and will never go out of style. Perfect for pairing with smart, dark trousers or with stretchy mom jeans, and slim enough to be layered with your winter coat. And definitely something a loved one would appreciate unwrapping on Christmas morning if you were that person, i.e. the super-organised shopper who is already thinking about the festive season.

Garcia Light Pink Chiffon Cardigan
Cotton candy pastels dominated the Spring 2021 catwalks during Fashion Month, and there’s no reason why you can’t get a head start on one of the dreamiest trends. Make the pastel hues work for your autumn/winter wardrobe by choosing clothes and accessories that will complement your existing pieces.
A pastel cardigan, such as our Garcia light pink chiffon cardigan, is the perfect piece to add to your cardigan rotation, as it will work for all four seasons. Team with white trousers and a white blouse for spring/summer outfits, or with your comfiest jeans and a slogan tee while working from home and navigating your way through the new normal. Layer with an oversized faux fur jacket or a belted duffle coat, and leave the house in supreme style!
Garcia Long Teal Cardigan
We’ve always been fans of long cardigans. Super-flattering as they hide a multitude of sins which this year will more than likely have been caused by our lockdown diets, but also because they provide an elongating illusion that will make even the most petite of women appear taller. Win, win!
Although it’s from our spring collection, this teal colour is also perfect for the autumn/winter season as it provides a pop of colour without being too bright and summery, and it complements most of the autumn/winter colours in our wardrobe. Pair with all-black or very dark ensembles to break up the colour – or lack thereof – and add some oversized accessories such as a chunky necklace or some statement earrings to make the look pop. For the best silhouette, we would recommend teaming with skinny jeans or any other form of straight cut trouser. Add a belt to the trousers for some definition.

Yellow Garcia Fluffy Cardigan
A bold pop of colour always puts a smile on our faces; and this fluffy mustard cardigan is no exception. Mustard has always been one of our favourite colours for the autumn/winter seasons, as it commands attention without being too in-your-face. Without sounding too hyperbolic, this mustard Garcia cardigan is the gift that keeps on giving; it’s a work-from-home must-have thanks to its fluffy material that will keep you warm and cosy, and the bright colour is a nice, added bonus that will brighten up even the dreariest of Zoom calls. Plus, it has puffy sleeves which are very on trend – check out the AW20 catwalks if you don’t believe us.
Coster Copenhagen Hand Knitted Multi Colour Cardigan
Now time for a little luxury. Joseph has nothing on this Coster Copenhagen hand knitted cardigan with multi-coloured stripes.
Gone are the days when oversized cardigans were synonymous with grandparents, as they have featured on catwalks for quite a few years now. And they’re not disappearing any time soon! A non-casual way to wear an oversized knitted cardigan is to team it with something figure-hugging or smarter, such as a pencil skirt in mini or midi length. Alternatively, we love the juxtaposition of a sprayed-on pair of slick leather trousers or leather leggings, with an oversized cardigan thrown on top.
It goes without saying, but this cardi is also perfect for dress-down Netflix binge-ing days too; with the fire on, a hot chocolate in your hand, and nightmares of the morning commute being nothing but a distant memory, what could be better?
