5 Myths About Living Life Busted
living our imperfect lives
Even in the twenty-first century, society still has expectations when it comes to how women should live their lives.
These expectations can also be known as “myths,” which is “a commonly believed but false idea” by definition.
After all, with free will and gender equality never being more prevalent, who really has the right to tell you what you should do and when?
That said, read on for 5 outdated myths about living life busted.
Myth #1: You Have to Follow the Rulebook of Life
Firstly, ignore those who say that you have to follow a set life plan. Sure, many women choose the traditional route of going to school, starting a career, getting married, having kids and then retiring.
But who says that this has to be the path that you go down?
Full disclosure: there’s no rulebook of life. And you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. You just do what feels right for you in the moment.
Myth #2: You Have to Do Everything ASAP While You’re Young
Speaking of a life plan, you don’t have to go to university after college. You don’t have to settle down while you’re young. And you’re never too old to travel.
Do things according to your own time frame. Life isn’t a race and there’s no rush to the finishing line.
Essentially, we’re big believers in doing things when you’re truly ready, because who wants to live a life full of regrets? Exactly - no one.
Myth #3: You Need the Perfect Balance to Be Happy
Since women are conventionally the “multi-tasking” gender, we can often get overwhelmed by trying to balance our personal and professional lives. Not to mention, the constant pressures to exercise and look good while caring for children or husbands or climbing the career ladder.
Newsflash: you don’t have to be perfectly balancing everything to be a good person - or be happy.
Even though it can be challenging, make sure that you occasionally take some time for yourself amongst all the chaos. Why? Well, because you deserve to be taken care of.
Myth #4: You’re Never Good Enough As You Are
Speaking of perfection, we’re always striving for more in the Digital Age. We want more clothes to make us trendier, more skincare products to make us look younger and more exercise to get in better shape.
Sure, there’s nothing wrong with a little self-improvement. But we’re here to tell you that YOU’RE ENOUGH just the way you are.
After all, if you’re striving for perfection, you’ll never be happy. Perfection doesn’t (and will never) exist.
Myth #5: There Are Certain Things You Just Can’t Do
Finally, who says you have to stay in your own lane?
Regardless of the opinions of any naysayers, you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. The sky’s the limit! All it takes is hard work and perhaps a little helping hand from the people around you.
If you’re struggling to live the life you truly want, just remember that your dreams CAN come true - it’s never too late. You just need to have the courage to pursue those dreams.
Busting Those Myths for a Happier Life
It’s no secret that people are always going to have expectations of other people.
However, who says that you always have to do what’s expected of you? We’re all on our own journeys and it’s okay if your path sometimes leads you somewhere different to the next person.
It’s more important that you do what makes you happy. After all, we've only got one shot at this thing we call life. Let’s make it a good one, shall we?
Have a great day!
